CHEZ POIRIER

Chez Poirier lies in the beautiful South Charente region of France, boasting panoramic views of rolling hills, vineyard, woodland and surrounding fields of sunflowers, wheat or maize.

Formerly a working farm, Chez Poirier is a collection of buildings around a picturesque courtyard. The Winehouse, used in earlier times for the storage of wine made on the farm, has been tastefully renovated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation, with access to a chlorine-free swimming pool.

Though tranquil and quiet, a village with post office & restaurant is within easy walking distance and a short car drive will bring you to Chalais - a small market town with more extensive shopping facilities, antique fairs and a major annual equestrian show. Local villages also hosts many cultural events and street markets.

The surrounding area is ideal for walking and cycling, and canoes are available for hire at nearby Aubeterre. Within 20 minutes' drive there is a golf course and a number of lakes with leisure facilities.

Further afield, but still within driving distance, are Bordeaux (cathedral, museums, concerts, shopping, exhibitions), the Cognac region (distilleries - Remy, Courvoisier and many others) Angouleme (cathedral, museums, shopping, exhibitions) and  St Emilion (vineyards). The beaches of the Atlantic Coast are also within easy reach.
